What is the "Tamashii no katana (Soul Sword)"?
During the process of manufacturing Japanese sword (katana),
billet of steel is heated, hammered, and folded back upon itself a number of times.
This process of forging and folding the steel, or in other words "training" the blade,
toughens the strength and beauty of the sword,
and this is how the soul gets into the Japanese katana.
In this project, we will use one wooden sword.
Each participant will slash with this sword, and we call each of this slash a "training" for the sword.
Kontouryu-shikikai will bring this project around different places,
to have the sword "trained" by 2020 people
and make it the “Soul Sword"…!
《 How to 》
1, Choose a stamp ink of the color you like.
2, Stamp a cherry-blossom petal shape on the wooden sword. When you are stamping,
make a wish of what you want to do or how you want to be by the year 2020.
3, Cut the cherry-blossom petal shaped paper with the sword. By cutting,
your wish on the stamp will stay stronger on the sword.
4, By the year 2020, we will have 2020 wishes of all the people who joined this program
stamped on this one sword, which we will call it the “Soul sword”!!
